Saucony Breakthru 4 Review
The Saucony Breakthru 4 is an all new update with a new mid sole foam and redesigned upper. Gaining just under a half an ounce over the previous version the new Breakthru adds a slightly more cushioned ride with a smoother heel to toe transition. The uppers is still breathable, better fitting in the toe box and has a less prominate heel counter. The over all fit of the Breakthru 4 upper is less snug than the Breakthru 3 but should fit and appeal to more runners.
I wasn't sure what I thought when I first got the shoe and wondered if this was the first time I had been really disappointed by a shoe update but after spending some time with the new Breakthru, running in the older model and then with one on each foot I came to understand that the changes are generally for the better and while steering away from feeling like a built up Type A and coming closer to the Ride 10 in fit, feel and styling is a change it's probably for the best and I do look forward to more runs in the Breakthru and seeing where Saucony takes this in between shoe.
